Elaboration of Fe3O4/ZnO nanocomposite with highly performance photocatalytic activity for degradation methylene blue under visible light irradiation

The magnetite/zinc oxide (Fe3O4/ZnO) nanocomposites were synthesized by the solid-state method using different ratios of zinc and iron oxide. structural, morphological, optical properties analysed X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectra (FT-IR), Raman spectroscopy, transmission electron microscope (TEM), UV–Vis diffuse reflectance (UV–Vis/DRS) Photoluminescence (PL) spectrophotometry. A significant shift which recorded in nanocomposite due to ZnO component is strongly incorporated with magnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles. Furthermore, Fe3O4/ZnO has a quenching PL intensity indicating stability between electrons holes (e−/h+). photocatalytic activities investigated degradation methylene blue aqueous solution under visible light condition pH, initial concentration trapping agents for free radicals (Tert-butyl alcohol (TBA), p-benzoquinone (BQ) disodium ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (Na2-EDTA)). results revealed that photodegradation efficiency compound presence magnetite improved from 13.5% 88.5%. show enhancement absorption region high life time e−/h+ at optimum ratio (MZ4), can applied obtain light. Finally, catalytic activity been stabled when such photocatalyst was utilized again several cycles.
